There is a lot to consider when purchasing a vacuum! These are some of the most common concerns and questions our clients have had while purchasing a vacuum. If you have any we have missed, contact us at biggarys@telus.net or by phone at (604) 530-7501.
We are asked this question on a daily basis. It really comes down to personal preference and the type of application. Canister vacuums are ideal for both carpet and bare flooring with the capability of switching back and forth between the powerhead and the floor brush. It is also easier for vacuuming stairs and furniture. An Upright vacuum is very easy to use on carpet and some are equipped to handle bare flooring as well.
This is a personal preference. Some people donโ€™t want to buy vacuum bags, but, careful, some bagless vacuums require regular change of filters, which could cost more that vacuum bags. Also, if allergies or asthma are a factor, a bagged vacuum is easier to just pull out the bag and throw away, whereas a bagless vacuum creates more dust pluming up - not good for those with asthma or allergies.
If you are already roughed in, a central vacuum may be the right choice. There are so many to choose from within every budget. At Big Garyโ€™s, we carry the best known name brands - Beam, CycloVac, DuoVac - all top of the line vacuums. If the decision is not to opt for a central vacuum, there are many canister or upright vacuums that are suitable for every budget whether itโ€™s the well-known German Vacuum brand Miele, or Sebo.
This is like tuning up a car. Every good vacuum needs a good cleaning. The more you look after it, the longer it will last. We usually like to service your vacuum at least every two years. This insures that the vacuum has optimum suction and will continue serving you longer.
